Mezclando temas de la cultura pop con reminiscencias de los grandes maestrs, Mark Ryden ha creado su propio (y singular) estilo . Su trabajo llamó la atención por primera vez en los noventa cuando marcó el inicio de un nuevo género en el mundo de la pintura “el Surrealismo Pop”

Blending themes of pop culture with techniques reminiscent of the old masters, Mark Ryden has created a singular style. His work first garnered attention in the 1990s when he ushered in a new genre of painting, "Pop Surrealism”

Ryden estudió en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Pasadena, California.
A mediados de los 80 comenzó a llamar la atención de los jóvenes seguidores de revistas como Juxtapoz, la legendaria Rolling Stone, y de los discos de sellos independientes como www.sympathyrecords.com, donde aparecían sus ilustraciones.
Después hizo la portada de la novela “Desperation”, de Stephen King; afiches de películas de Tim Burton; y el arte de tapa de discos de Red Hot Chilli Peppers.


Ryden studied at the School of Art and Design of Pasadena, in California.
A mid 80's began to attract attention of young followers of magazines such as Juxtapoz, the legendary Rolling Stone, and the independent labels albums as Sympathy., where her illustrations appear. Then he made the cover of the novel "Desperation" by Stephen King movie posters of Tim Burton, and the cover art of albums Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Ryden también es autor de la portada del álbum Dangerous de Michael Jackson. Aquella mítica carátula la encabezan los ojos del cantante pop tras un antifaz dorado y hacia abajo, numerosos detalles van revelando aquel misterioso pedido de Jackson.

Ryden is also created the cover of  the album Dangerous by Michael Jackson. That mythical cover the top pop singer's eyes after a golden mask down, many details are revealed the mysterious order of Jackson.

Art galleries, publishers and a whole underground circuit supported by the success of the cult magazine Juxtapozcreated an artistic nuevatendencia known as  Lowbrow Art that, relatively speaking, would be something like an art without intellectual pretensions, and the exponent of this trend is Mark Ryden.

Ryden's creations appear disturbed by, for example, a blond boy on his bicycle and walking with swastikas on their clothes, a girl kneeling in prayer before a vision of Barbie, dreamlike paintings and children whose protagonists have recognized as Di Caprio faces, Cristina Ricci and Björk (Ryden fans)
